We carry a wide range of contact lenses at Bluewater Optometry to suit all lifestyles and budgets.
There are many types of lenses on the market, but contact lenses can be categorized by their material type.
At Bluewater Optometry, we love glasses! It’s so much fun to change up your style with new frames, and glasses can really highlight your personality and uniqueness. But it’s also totally common and understandable to want a change. So why not try contact lenses?
Contacts are a great alternative to eyeglasses and offer many benefits:
Contacts aren’t a one-size-fits-all solution, though. You’ll require a comprehensive contact lens exam and fitting before you can make the switch. Our optometrists at Bluewater Optometry are knowledgeable and skilled with fitting contact lenses, so please book your appointment with us today!
Contact lenses sit directly on the surface of the eyes, floating on the tear film. A comprehensive eye exam (with some additional tests) focuses on assessing your ocular health for extended contact lens wear. Our primary goal is to ensure that your contact lenses will remain comfortable and provide you with ideal vision over the long-term.
A fitting involves ensuring your contact lenses fit the curve of your cornea and won’t irritate or harm your eyes. We’ll also go over the various contact lens options available and help you choose the best style for your needs and lifestyle.
We’ll also use this time to teach you how to insert and remove them and how to properly care for them. You’ll then be sent home with a trial pair of contact lenses.
It can take a bit of trial and error to find the perfect contact lenses. But with so many brands, types, and styles available, we’re confident your ideal pair is out there!

Soft contact lenses are made of a gel-like plastic called silicone hydrogel. They’re very flexible and thin, and properly-fitted lenses form easily to the cornea. Because they’re often immediately comfortable and require very little adjustment to wear, they’re the most common type of lens worn.
Soft lenses also come in many different styles, including daily, weekly, monthly disposables, extended wear, and cosmetic lenses.
Also known as hard contact lenses, rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses are made of a harder plastic and hold their shape. They’re an excellent option for those with astigmatism or keratoconus.
RGP lenses offer superior oxygen flow to the eyes and provide clearer vision than soft contact lenses. But they take more practice and take longer to adjust to.
RGP lenses come in daily wear and extended wear options.
It’s never too late to try contact lenses! We’re here to help you decide if they’re the best option for you and choose a style to perfectly suit your life. Please, book an appointment with us today, and start your journey to clear, crisp vision without glasses!
